Yesterday we celebrated my Father's life. He passed away January 10th of this year after a long fight with brain cancer. He fought valiantly. At one point it looked like he was winning the war. He had successfully been able to shrink his original tumor by 50%. Unfortunately a 2nd tumor developed that treatment couldn't help.
Just days before he passed he rallied. My brother and I came up for a visit. He was alert, energetic, and communicating as well as he had in weeks. He held our hands throughout the day. Every time my mom passed he requested kisses. He even hummed to some of his favorite music. It was a wonderful day none of us will forget.
The celebration yesterday was amazing. So many friends and family members came out to reminisce. The atmosphere was full of love and joy. My dad would have been proud. He would have loved hanging out with each and every person there. Hearing the respect people had for him, seeing the impact he left, and feeling the love for my father from everyone meant so much to us as a family. It reinforced who Jerry was and what he stood for. In a moment that could be so sad, the room was vibrant.
It was perfect and just the way he would have wished.
Thank you to those who came out.
Thank you to everyone who has offered us support and condolences.
Thank you to all who have helped, no matter how small the gesture, over the past few months.
We are Amber and Jordan Kirbey. We are excited to share our experiences and ideas with you!
