We all KNOW the importance sleep plays in both our mental clarity and physical energy. But how often are we ignoring or sacrificing it?
This week has personally been rough for me.
Monday night we picked up a foster dog to care for while waiting for his forever home. The extra attention required for him has created a few later than normal nights. Add that with a very late night seeing the Lion King play (which was amazing) and I was dragging. I felt sluggish and exhausted.
Finally last night I was able to get to bed a little earlier than normal. Besides an security call related to work I was able to get more sleep than I'm use to during the week. I woke up and felt like a million bucks. I got in the longest run I've had in over two years (I was running most of that time mind you) and cognitively have been knocking things off the to-do list one right after another.
This type of week has just reinforced how vital rest can be. When it's lacking, so are you. Do your best to ensure ample sleep each night by getting to bed at a decent time, limiting screen time at night, keeping your room cool and dark, and avoiding work before hitting the sack.
