Life is full of pressure and expectations. When they are at their highest, how do you handle the heat? Do you freeze? Do you panic? Or do you rise to the occasion? Do you prosper when your back is against the wall and everyone is counting on you? Do you step up to take the last shot or cower in the corner as fear mounts control of you?
The pressure of life comes with both pros and cons. The pressure never truly goes away, no matter how comfortable you might become with it. There's always a hum of expectation from someone or somewhere, but by facing the pressure and learning to deal with it you learn to succeed. You learn to persevere. You learn to mange life and control the negative emotions that can be so consequential if left unchecked.
The keys to thriving under pressure are to control yourself. Control your breathing, your self-talk, and your mental imagery. Breathe deeply, reinforce your confidence with positive thoughts, and see yourself succeeding. If you can do this, no situation will be too large for you.
