Dancing is a beautiful form of art and entertainment that has been part of human history since the dawn of man. It's a way to connect, express yourself, and enjoy one another's company.
Dancing has played a special role our lives since the beginning of our relationship. For our very first date I romantically took Amber to a senior center's monthly dance party. It served two purposes; homework for school and a first date that would either scare Amber away or make her mine forever. Luckily, she has no fear and our destinies were decided right then and there. Fast forward a couple years I even danced for her when proposing...
Off and on for a few years now Amber and I have been taking part in dance lessons. We attend Ballroom lessons on Tuesday night at Step By Step Dance Studio. We've learned Waltz, Swing, Rumba, and Salsa to varying degrees. It's an experience we look forward to every week that we are able to attend.
I would say dancing is one of our weekly highlights. The instructors, Dwayne and Kelly, are amazingly talented individuals. The other folks who participate are kind and fun to be around. Every few weeks we throw a class party with a potluck style dinner. It's a wonderful experience all around.
Thanks to these lessons, along with some extra practice with Kelly, Amber and I were able to relearn our First Dance from our wedding day back in 2014. We performed at Amber's talent show in December just before their Christmas Break started. It was fun and exhilarating being out on the floor to perform.
I think it's safe to say from the beginning to the end, dancing has always been, and will always be, a big part of our lives.
Most people like to perform workouts focused on their arms. Men typically want bigger biceps. Women usually want toned triceps. Today I bring to you a workout that will leave your arms feeling like jello while accomplishing either of the above goals.
A1. Tricep Pushdowns w/ Rope Grip x 12-15 Reps
A2. Cable Hammer Curls w/ Rope Grip x 12-15 Reps
Perform 3 Sets of Each, Alternate back and forth
B1. Dips or Bench Dips x 8-12
B2. Seated DB Curls (Palms face up) x 8-12
Perform 3 Sets of each, Alternate back and forth
C1. Overhead DB Tricep Extension x 10-15
C2. Barbell or EZ Bar Curl x 10-15
Perform 3 Sets of each, Alternate back and forth
Between exercises take 30-45 seconds rest. This should be a fast paced workout that takes no more than 30 minutes to complete, but will leave your arms just about useless!
A positive outlook is a vital part of a happy life. Negativity has no place. Negativity brings you, and those around you, down. Negativity is toxic.
A positive outlook leads to success, progress, growth, and confidence in oneself.
When you believe in yourself you can create the world you want. You can reach any goal you set.
In life there will be times you'll suffer and be uncomfortable. Positivity will pull you through.
Stay positive. If you can do that, you can do anything.
We all need habits and rituals that set us up for success in our life. Our habits are our building blocks. They are the foundation for our daily behaviors. They keep us disciplined, focused, productive, and moving our lives in the right direction.
Just as good habits build us up, poor habits bring us down. They result in procrastination, poor health, and lack of success. Because of this, we must eliminate these poor habits that hold us back while reinforcing our positive habits.
If you struggle with smoking, drinking, or eating poorly, rid your house of these immediately. Don't wait another day or give yourself an excuse to keep hurting yourself.
If you don't wear your seat belt, drink enough water, or live an active life, start today. Go drink a glass of water. Go walk or do 10 jumping jacks. Next time you're in your car put on your seat belt.
Today is the best day to change your life. There's no good excuse for waiting.
Change your habits today in order to flourish tomorrow.
A gratitude practice can make a big difference in a person’s happiness and well being. Reflecting on your relationships, possessions, and fortunes keeps a person humble and happy.
A simple act that I picked up from Chade-Meng Tan in Tim Ferris’ Tools of Titans is what Meng calls “Joy of Loving-Kindness”.
It is simply the thought of wishing 2 people in the room, “I wish for this person to be happy, and I wish for that person to be happy.” No speaking or action besides that thought.
It takes 10 seconds to do this activity and it can certainly have an impact on your level of happiness. In Tool of Titans Chade-Meng Tan retold a story of how he challenged a group of seminar participates to do this simple exercise once per hour at work the following day. One woman contacted him afterward informing him this activity helped her have the happiest work day she had had in 7 years. Seven years. How amazing is that? This little practice can have such an impact on your mood, and you can perform it throughout the day, regardless of where you are.
Give it a shot tomorrow, I bet you'll be thankful you did!
Jim Rohn said, and many have repeated this, that we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with. When I hear successful individuals repeat something over and over, I listen.
Your inner circle, your best friends, your work associates... all these people that we spend hours a day with have such a huge impact on who we are. Analyze your life for a minute. Consider the people you spend the most time with. What influence do they have on you? Do you notice if you all seem to have the same hobbies, interests, and habits? This would make sense because we typically associate with like-minded people. This can be both good and bad however.
If your inner circle of friends have ambition, creativity, positive attitudes, and healthy habits you will be set up to succeed in most situations. If your friends tend to be lazy, lack initiative, or have poor habits you will typically get sucked into these harmful behaviors.
Audit your inner circle. Are your friends enhancing your life? Are they supporting you, motivating you, and allowing you to live the best life you can? I'm blessed to be surrounded by supportive and successful people. I'm grateful for my wife and friends who over the last few months have been determined to make exercise and healthy habits a priority in their lives. I'm lucky to know people with high ambitions for both their personal and professional lives. Seeing them strive to create a new business lights a fire in my soul to keep pushing the limits of my success.
My inner circle is a group of wonderful people and we continue to support and build one another.

Principles- a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior
What principles guide your decision making, beliefs, and actions? Are you true to yourself or do you let the principles of others manipulate and control you? Never forget that this is your life. Your one and only chance on this Earth to live, love, and make an impact. To make the most of this opportunity you must be true to yourself. Live life based on the principles that allow you to find fulfillment, happiness, and to sleep easy at night.
Do not short-change yourself in fear of judgement. Do not sell yourself short thinking your beliefs are invalid. Be proud of who you are, what you stand for, and the reason you were put on this Earth.
Yesterday an idea popped into my head. The idea centered around creating an online community and providing a place for individuals to routinely express gratitude, give thanks, and treat others with kindness. My vision is an environment of love and positivity. A place anyone is welcome to come and let the world know what they're thankful for, no matter how large or small. This place would encourage and build up all of it's members. Together we would create a safe place of happiness, kindness, and gratitude. We would build one another up to our best selves. We'd strive to eliminate negativity, at least for a few moments every day, and raise the self-esteem of all those involved.
Who would like to be part of this beautiful community?
I love to sweat. There is something primal inside of me that feels great when I'm dripping in it. There's a sense of power, strength, and accomplishment that flows through my veins. There's no better trigger of sweating than heat. And there is no greater place to find heat than in a sauna.
Yesterday, with the help of my father-in-law, I was able to put together our sauna. I'm in love already. To me, saunas are beautiful shrines for our health. Longevity, detox, performance enhancement, healing, resilience... The sauna is an effective tool that can be used for all of this and more.
There is a lot of amazing evidence on all the benefits of utilizing a sauna in your life, and the number one location for that information is Rhonda Patrick's Sauna Report. You can also watch a video she's done...
